Is it possible to have 8 babies like on the Simpsons?

Yes it is, the babies though are born very small and need intensive care treatment. The octuplets in Texas born in 1998 only 7 survived, as the smallest died after only a week. The largest multiple birth on record is nine babies born in Sydney in 1971, but none lived beyond six days.
