Are there any advantages in cutting a sandwich in different shapes?

Are there any advantages in terms of taste and longevity in cutting a sandwich in to either rectangles or triangles?

  1. The only difference is the exposure of the edges. If you cut it into triangles, the perimeter of the sandwich is longer, leaving more bread exposed: this means it would go stale quicker.

    However, it does expose more of the filling to the air, allowing better conduction of heat-to-sandwich. Since most food (particularly popular sandwich fillings such as cheese and tuna) tastes better at room temperature, this mean that if you’re eating it in a reasonably well-heated room, it will reach its optimum tasting temperature quicker, possibly even before you manage to devour it.
