Does it hurt when the doctor cuts the umbilical cord?

  1. The umbilical cord does not contain any pain nerve fibres, so when the doctors cut it is doesn’t hurt. Just in the same way that when you cut your hair it doesn’t hurt because you have no nerves in your hair.
