  1. Hi Young Scientists :).:)
A wormhole is the name given to a special kind of shortcut through space that takes virtually no time at all! There is, of course, a lot of detailed information to take in to describe the idea more clearly but briefly a ‘wormhole’ may be likened to the straight joint that could be made between two cones (or funnels with their pipes cut off), which very briefly join at their points to create a short link. Now imagine the normal path being much, much longer and you will realise how a ‘wormhole’ route could be a very quick alternative indeed from the open end of one (our universe) to the open end of the other cone ( a parallel universe?). Some Scientists have suggested that a ‘Parallel Universe’ would exist on the other side i.e. if an astronaut emerged from the opposite cone. These combinations have been likened to a ‘black hole’ joining to the opposite form, a ‘white hole’. This is part of the endless search for greater understanding that scientists pursue and you may join the quest in the future!
I hope this brief description gives enough of a picture to make you want to find out more…
    Good Luck,
