  1. Hmmm, that’s a question I want answered too! I’d love to do just that! The problem is, interstellar travel in the Star Trek universe relies on faster than light travel, and as modern physics stands that doesn’t seem possible. The “light barrier” seems unbreakable. To break light speed you’d need enormous energy, and it seems impossible to create that much energy with something as small as a spaceship. Another way might be to bend space, or distort it, but we’re a long, long way from being able to do that. It seems that for the moment – and, barring some breakthrough in physics – we’re restricted to using either chemical or maybe nuclear propulsion, which would make interstellar travel a very lengthy business, with journeys of centuries if not millennia. But in the far future, who knows? Maybe a real Zefram Cochrane will come along and prove all our 21st century fuddy duddy physicists wrong! 🙂
