Why are bubbles so white?

Why are bubbles so white, regardless of the colour of the bubble bath I use?

  1. This question was asked over at my own blog (http://utterinsanity.wordpress.com), and this is the answer:
The reason that bubbles are white no matter the color of the bubble bath is that the dyes used in bubble baths attach themselves to the water, and not the surfactant that creates the bubbles in the first place. They HAVE managed to create a dye that works to create colored bubbles…but it’s useless for bubble bath because it also seems to stain the skin. If you Google Image search for “Zubbles”, you’ll see some photo examples of multicolored bubbles.
