Why can’t we all have jetpacks/mini-planes/personal flight vehicles?

Roads are carving up our country and will never be enough for our ever growing needs. Why can’t we all have jetpacks/mini-planes/personal flight vehicles? The sky is big and the air is just there. Why can’t we use it to move around in? Technology allows it so why can’t we utilise it?

  1. Several reasons:
    Far too expensive.
Very dangerous (cars can bump and stop, jet packs would drop out of the sky and kill you).
Aircraft need much more space to operate in (compare a traffic jam with and airport).
    Not fail safe.
