Will science and engineering prove to have the necessary ethics to safeguard the human race?

As science seems to be showing that time is running out, doesn’t that point to where the efforts and limited resources of science and engineering need to be concentrated (towards beating swords into ploughshares in these last days) – and will science and engineering prove to have the necessary ethics to safeguard the human race?

  1. I think that the answer to your very important question does not lie in the hands of science and engineering. Politicians always have the final say as to how science is used – for the benefit or detriment of society. Science is very much a political animal and funding in many areas comes from the government – thus some science is poorly funded whereas other areas generally get what they want. The ethics do not come from scientists but from government and other influential areas of society.
