  1. Not as much as radio waves. Any large change to the stability of the ionosphere like aurora or storms on the sun create a wave that changes the activity in the various layers of the ionosphere. These changes can make radio wave propagation better but too much and it can effect telecoms systems. Normal phones are less likely to be prone to problems as they are predominately wire based systems
