  1. Yes, we have to!

    Earth can only sustain us for so long, and if, as a species (not counting how we might evolve in the future), we are to survive any number of possible disasters (pollution, melting ice caps, war, plague, asteroid impact, being swallowed up by the sun’s red-giant phase etc. etc.) then we must find a way of living either on another planet or in space.

    Having visited the moon, and kept people alive for months in an orbiting space station, the technology required to make another planet habitable is not beyond us. Surely a bigger question is; one we have found another planet to inhabit, will we use all of its resources, pollute it and plague it with wars? Or will we learn from our mistakes?
