What is it like being a scientist?

What is it like being a scientist? What expiriments have you recently done? Have you worked in a laboratory? If you have, what is it like? Do you know any scientists with wild white hair and are in a lab coat? What do you do on an average day as a scientist?

Could indians have reported seeing and hunting mammoths?

I recently read a book, Jubal Sackett, by Louis L’amour. It was a very good book, but getting to the point, Jubal Sacket supposebly came across a wolly mammoth, or some form of that. This book was based in during the Jamestown era., or around the late 1600’s-early 1700’s. Although the book isnt based upon a true story, according to Louis L’amour in the back of the book, some indians reported seeing and hunting animals of a mammoths status. I was interested in wether or not this could be true because all the information I have found so far says they became exticnt in North America by 6000 BC. That was in Alaska too. I am just looking for some thoughts or facts on this. Thanks.
